Once again, the BMFPD Auxiliary and its volunteer Firefighters are working together to help our neighbors update their fire safety equipment and learn how to operate it.
• Bring your current fire extinguishers to the sale – we’ll test them, and if they need to be replaced, we’ll dispose of them safely at no cost to you.
• Put out a live fire under the supervision of volunteer firefighters. Be sure EVERYONE in your household knows how to operate this basic home safety equipment.
• State and county codes now require CO detectors - BMFPD’s own Medical Safety Officer Nina Griffin tells you why (link to her article on the public safety info page)
We’ll throw in a FREE 10 year battery with your purchase.

BE FIRE SAFE!
BMFPD Chief John Benson selected fire extinguishers, and CO and fire detectors for reliability and ease of use. Our friends at McGuckin Hardware gave us great group-buy pricing so BMFPD residents can update their gear at below-retail prices. A small markup benefits the BMFPD volunteer fire department.
UPDATE YOUR FIRE EXTINGUISHERS!
Extinguishers go dry after a few years – how old are the ones in your home?
Chief Benson has selected two fire extinguishers that are easy to use anywhere in the home, on any type fire.
BRING YOUR EXTINGUISHERS TO BE CHECKED
If they need to be replaced, we’ll recycle your old ones free of charge.
UPDATE YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS
The sensors in detectors fail over time. Pick up a new smoke detector with a 10 year warranty and a 10 year battery – or pick up a couple. Current Boulder County code calls for detectors IN every bedroom and on every level!
ADD A CO DETECTOR
Current Colo. law calls for CO detectors in homes using propane or natural gas, OR with attached garages. Get a simple plug-in model with a digital display and a 7-year warranty PLUS we’ll give you 10-year battery.
ILLUMINATE YOUR HOME ADDRESS
Chief Benson says, “ If we can’t find you, we can’t help you.” Firefighters can see a house fire, but they can’t see a medical emergency call. If your reflective house numbers have disappeared over the years, get a new kit.
Be sure your sign can be read by a responder coming or going past your home. We have customized stakes to fit with the house number kit. "Mount it right or be out of sight."
