Flames burned a whole through the first floor and immediately collapsed when firefighters made their way through the front door. Maryland Firefighter Taken To Hospital After Electrical Shock
Fire spokesperson Mark Brady says that a Prince George's County Firefighter is hospitalized in "good" condition after receiving an electrical shock at a Fire/EMS Station on Wednesday. Missouri firefighter dies of apparent natural causes at firehouse
Funeral services are pending for a St. Charles firefighter who was found dead in his bed this morning at a firehouse. Douglas "Doug" Haase, 60, of Troy, Mo., apparently died of natural causes.Haase went to bed late last night after running a call, and his shift was supposed to end at 7:30 this morning, said fire department spokesman Dan Casey.

Off-duty Florida firefighter helped interstate pileup victims
As a firefighter with the Orange County Fire Rescue, Lucas Sloan is trained to jump into action during an emergency. That's exactly what he did on Sunday morning when he just happened to be driving in to work on Interstate 75 from his home in Gainesville when he came upon the massive pileup. "Upon stopping my car, I heard accidents happening around me, I heard cars screeching and crashes occurring, it wasn't until we started walking that we were able to see the actual accident, cause besides that there was no visibility," Sloan said.

Chicago fire truck strikes car: 10 hurt, including 4 firefighters
PHOTOS: Authorities were trying to figure out why a car that was initially stopped near an intersecton started moving again and was struck by a fire engine hustling through an intersection to get to a fire alarm call this evening in the West Pullman neighborhood. LAFD to pay firefighter nearly $500K to settle federal discrimination charges
The Los Angeles Fire Department must pay almost $500,000 to settle a case filed on behalf of a male firefighter who was harassed by coworkers over a sexual abuse suit linked to the Catholic Church. Anthony Almeida, a firefighter and engineer with the department, filed a discrimination charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2007, alleging that he was continually harassed by fellow firefighters at his station.

Judge upholds discipline against 2 Georgia firefighters involved in prank
An administrative law judge has upheld discipline imposed on two firefighters in connection with a prank at a Bibb County fire station involving a masked man threatening firefighters. Penn. captain suspended for encouraging strike of volunteer firefighters
Chambersburg Fire Department Captain Patrick Martin has been suspended without pay for 240 working hours for "conduct unbecoming of an officer." During a special meeting Monday, Chambersburg Borough Council unanimously voted to suspend Martin after he sent an Oct. 26 letter to International Association of Fire Fighters members asking they support IAFF by "refraining from providing volunteer firefighting services to the Borough of Chambersburg.

Jury awards $189,000 to 2 Fla. firefighters over workplace retaliation claims
A federal jury on Monday awarded $189,000 to two Pasco firefighters after determining the local firefighters union and the county retaliated against the two men for filing discrimination claims. Most of the verdict – $166,000 – was assessed against the International Association of Firefighters Local 4420 for publishing a legal memo in April 2008 that named the two firefighters and called their claims "frivolous.
