Third Arm volunteers are assisting firefighters in the development of a database with information about the District and the individual households in the District. An internet based data collection tool is being developed by a highly qualified Third Arm volunteer. Data which is collected may be used in the event of an emergency to protect firefighters, to rescue people and animals, to provide assistance to those in need, and for notification purposes.
The database, which is currently being developed, includes the following types of information:
- Contact information on all residents at each address, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. Residents can voluntarily provide temporary data such as out of town dates or temporary guest info.
- Information especially relevant to firefighters such as: where are the propane tanks; what is the nature of the driveway (can an engine safely navigate the driveway; does the engine need to be backed in etc.); where are the cutoff switches for utilities; what is the status of mitigation work around the house; what is the roofing material, etc.
- Resident access information, which is voluntarily provided by homeowners.
- Information on special medical or transportation needs.
- Information regarding pets. Also see Animal Rescue section below.
- Information for Help Coordination efforts.
